The story begins when the lead character Greg, is mysteriously anesthetized and wakes up on an unknown, incredibly bizarre planet. ‘Unium’, is unique and very different from Earth, in every imaginable way. As the plane’s

passengers gain consciousness, they are dismayed to discover exquisite features and peculiar landscapes. The passengers found themselves, sitting in a sea of golden grass, with gigantic trees in the distance towering into the sky. There were periods of cave-black darkness where even blood-thirsty predators did not stir. When the moon rose into the heavens, famished flesh eaters excited their lairs and foraged for prey.

On this alien and distant planet, the earthman meets Star, a cautious and charming young girl who lives with her veteran father, In-kor. It is not easy for the long-haired youth to win the trust of the unearthly beauty, even though he risks his life to defend the herder from a ferocious cat named Destra during their first encounter. After spending time together, and becoming each other the two eventually form a bond.

Later, Star introduces the newcomer to her father, In-kor. Being much more experienced, the former grandmaster swordsman was far more reluctant to trust the passer-by. Despite this initial reluctance of acceptance, the father and daughter eventually give safe refuge, to Greg and their bond strengthens. Star exposes the vagabond to the many perils of Unium, from eerie humanoids to gruesome slavers. They form an affiliation where Star serves the well-built stranger as a guide to the grass-covered prairie.

The book aims to put Greg's exploration of Unium into words. The breathtaking yet terrifying realities that witnessed while living in a constant sense of dread. His anguish grows even stronger when he witnesses the Unium civilization being dominated by the oppressive trade of slaves, ruthless and extortive kings, and the menace of raids by bandits. Greg's life on this planet becomes an epitome of both awe and horror as he observes the intricacy of Unium’s society and the contrasting moral values of its inhabitants.

Swordsman on Unium’ is a marvelous tale of survival and companionship. In the story, James Michael Moody attempts to portray a world where danger, exists at all times. Every step is filled with unique adventures and risks. The story leads its readers to explore an alien planet and experience the profound connections that can form even in the most unfathomable places.
